I'm Yhannels (Yhan) from Venezuela, this is a south america country that have caribbean coasts, so there are a lot of beaches.We speak spanish, and we are very kind people, we love spending time with friends and family, because that are the two most important things for us. I have a big family, because my parents get divorced when I was 2 years old, and then they got remarried, so the family became much bigger. I have 2 brothers, one's from my father's new marriage and one's from my mother's new marriage. I have one stepmother and one stepfather too, and I love them because they are very affactionate with me, about my father´s parents are very hard workers and they like to travel a lot, my mother´s father died 6 years ago because of cancer and my grandmother live with us and she is a very lovely person.

I want to open soon another store in Miami. Because of that, I'm taking english classes and came to Missoula. Montana is very far away from my country and Miami, so there's not too much people here to talk spanish with, and I think, that's the best decision I've made.

My husband had planned to do research at the University of Montana during his sabbatical. Today, the world is as one, and English is essential to communicate with people all around the world. I felt the need for English in my job. So, I decided to study English at ELI. Before choosing ELI, I didn't have much information about ELI, but after entering ELI, I think it was a good choice. I met many international students, so I could learn about many cultures of other countries as well as English. And I love Missoula, especially the Clark Fork River and Missoula's big sky.
I was a government official in Korea. I worked in Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Do you know about the patent? My work was the examination / trial of patent. I studied genetic engineering, so I worked in the biotechnology field. Also, I went abroad to Japan during four years. Do you know about the "Samsung-Apple Patent Lawsuit?" Today, the world is as one, and patent will be as one. After finishing ELI, I will be back my workplace. I am studying English to expand my business area I can work.
As I said earlier, I am an introvert, so it is difficult to make friends for me. However, after becoming familiar with people, I like to tell jokes. I really want to become better friends with 5B classmates.

Father is a white collar worker. Mother is a part timer. My sister is five years older than me. She works as a nursery teacher in home town. A day when she is a holiday, I usually go shopping with her.

My eldest brother is married and has 3 cute girls while my sister is a new marriage. My father and mother are my heroes because they like to learn every thing new. my father loves reading and discussing public topics with us such as politics. Regarding my personality, I like to be sociable and open minded person. Also, I prefer to be alone when studying or working in a very quiet place. how ever, I prefer to keep my sadness away from people so I might laugh a lot with family and friends while I have a broken heart inside me.
I have been to the US for one year and a half studying english. during this period, I was looking for a good place to study my master degree. So, I came to Missoula, Montana( The Big Sky) to relax, study and enjoy the nature. Missoula is differentiated from the east coast and all the famous states in the United States. In Washington,DC and Virgina, there is really busy life that you see people in a hurry all the time and impatient. For example, you see them running fast in the early morning to catch the metro and I wander why do they run while there is a metro every two minutes!! So, I hate being busy all the time.
My hobbies are reading fiction novels, writing and computer engineering. My favorite dish is Chicken Alfredo, which is an Italian food.

DeleteWhen I visited large cities, I saw what u mean about people in a hurry. There are people in the streets until midnight. It is very dangerous and scary at night. I think that cities like Missoula are better for students to concentrate on studying because of the quietness. I don't think I would like to study in a big city, but I wish I can live in a big city or visit big cities for touring.

DeleteI agree with you about Missoula is safe. I think it is a very good place to study and play at the same time. I like a lot of sea food as well, but there is no sea or ocean in Montana. I always wanted to try sushi, but when I did try it in Seattle last year it was very interesting but I don't think I can eat it with wasabi. Wasabi was very strange taste to me. But if you can teach me more about Sushi kinds maybe I will like it more.

ReplyDeleteI'm from Japan, Chiba. Chiba is near the Tokyo, and it has Tokyo Disney Land. Many Chiba's people think why Disney didn't name this amusement park "Chiba Disney Land". My family is I, my mother, my father, and my younger brouther. My parents are eager to educated me and my brouther, so they permitted my studyabroad willingly. My brouther is 16 years old, now he go to boys' school. He is shy, but he is kind to children and animals. He wants to go university and stady physical culture.
My mahor in Japan is intercultural communication. We study about English, other language(Friench, Spanish, German, etc) communication, and many countries cultures in this major. My hobby is music. I love listening music, playing the electric bass, and going concerts. I'm happy to talk with many people, however sometime I'm sad when I can't express my thinking. Recently I'm happy and sad, but my belief is "Never Give Up", so I'll continue to express my thinking in English!
My future goal is working in trading company, especially related music. I love music, I said, I want to know many kinds of music and spread around many people. I think music is one of the nonverbal communication.
I have been Missoula since only 1 week, but I love Missoula because people are kind and it have a lot of natures!

Hi! My name is Keisuke. i'm from Japan. My hometown is Nagoya, which is located between Osaka and Tokyo. It is famous for Japanese popular foods such as Misonikomi(noodles with miso-soup), Misokatsu(deep fried pork dipping in miso), and Hitsumabusi(japanese common eel). Many people come to Nagoya to eat all these foods.
ReplyDeleteActually, I have been here since March. But, I don't know about Missoula well because I stayed in Alaska whole summer. I went to fishing so many times and caught tons of salmons. I had a lot of fun in there.
My favorite sport is tennis. I play tennis whenever I have a time. I have played tennis since when i was 15-year-old.I'm going to participate in the tennis tournament next week. I'm looking forward to playing game with people who can play tennis well.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Oyatullokh (Ayat). I am from Dushanbe, Tajikistan. I am 20 year old and I am training wrestling almost all my life. There are 4 people in my family my father, lovely mother and my brother who is younger than me. My father is a head of Tourist company among Arab countries in Tajikistan. Also, he is a linguist and he knows Arabic, English, German, Russian, Turkish, Urdu (India), Ukrainian etc. I wanted to study languages from him but he is so busy and also most of the time he travels and it doesn't give him enough time to tutoring us (me and my brother). My mother is a house-wife. My brother is studying at the high school and this year is his last year at the high school he gonna graduate after one year. His hobby is playing sports, for example Kayaking, wrestling, Soccer, running etc, and by the way last year he got three medals one gold and two silvers at the Kayaking Tournament in Tajikistan and now he is training Judo as I do.
In Tajikistan I studied at the Pedagogical University of Tajikistan and my major was English Language. Then I moved to UAE (United Arab Emirates) to improve my English and Arabic. However, I stayed there for one year and I just could improve my English but not Arabic. Then I decided to come to the USA to get the TOEFL in order to go to the University and major Political Science. Hopefully (InshaALLAH) by our lovely instructors help in my grammar and reading I can get the TOEFL and go to the University soon.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Sara. I am from Kuwait. I came to Missoula about three years ago. I am married and I have one child, a 17 month old boy and his name is Ammar. I am glad that I found a day care to take care of my son this semester so that I can complete my english education.
I graduated from Kuwait University with a psychology major. I came to Missoula with my husband who is studying at the university of Montana. I want to improve my english so that I can apply to the university. I want to major in Masters of Business Administration (MBA). I think that psychology and MBA are very good majors to have for running a private business.
I'm interested in fashion and I like shopping for clothes and shoes. But I can't wear my nice shoes all the time in Missoula because of snow. I want to visit California and New York to go to fashion shows. I wish that I can visit Italy, France, and London so that I can compare US fashion with European fashion.
Finally, I hope I could learn much from this class. I want to pass the TOEFL exam so that I can enter the university and advance my education.

I'm Yuki Nanri. I'm from Japan. I'm 22. I like playing basketball. There are two reasons: Exciting and Difficult.
ReplyDeleteThe first reason why I like basketball is exciting. Playing basketball is exciting because it is a competition. Competitions make me concentrate. If I don't have competitions, I'll be able to do the same way. When I give a good pass, drive in and got a shoot, I'm really excited. Not only playing but also watching is fun and exciting. As I become more good player, I can understand the game. There are a lot of movements which some people are unaware of. Of course, some kinds of movements like dunk are exciting. However, The movements which good players are aware of make me excited.
The second reason is it's pretty difficult to play basketball. You need a lot of skills when you play basketball well. At first, you have to dribble without watching your ball because you need to watch everyone. This movement is quite difficult. The next is you have to shoot. This is quite difficult ,too. Even the NBA players' goal percentages is 60% in the game. Their goal percentages are nearly 90% in practice. However, they have defenses' pressure in the game. Therefore, it is more difficult for others. Also, playing basketball is more difficult than other any sports.
This is because playing basketball depends on experience.
For these reasons, I like playing basketball.
What I want to learn in the class is correct usage. This is because I can't use tenses completely while speaking. I want to speak fluently with correct tenses.

ReplyDeleteI'm Mohammed Alotaibi, I'm from kuwait It's a small country in the Middle East. However,I have many hobbies that I like in my live, some of them are playing soccer, swimming and travelling to discover the world.
In my country kuwait, my family is huge. In my house I have, My parents, My three brothers and their wifes , my six sisters, my ten nieces and my five nephews. furthermore,the thing that makes me happy when all of my family gather around me with happiness, and the thing that makes me sad when one of my family feels sad. I love my family they are proud of me because I'm studying abroad alone, and I'm proud of them because they support me for my future. Moreover, I came to the United States for studying hard to achieve my goal which is being an engineer in my country kuwait ,because of the good salary.
One more thing, I love to watch movie, It's actually the biggest reason why I love to learn English. Also, I love to watch the famous movies more than one time such as, Braveheart, Titanic, Live Free Or Die Hard, What Women Want? and The Patriot. My best actor ofcourse is Mel Gibson .
